Attended AU Ministerial Consultation Meeting with Africa Group followed by UN Women on 13 March, 2026. The objective of the meeting were to reflect on streghthening Africa’s voice at CSW, receive update on the negotiations and exchange views on Africa’s candidancy to host the first regional rotation during CSW74 to be held in 2030.

Members discussed and observed that:
1. Gender norms are regressing
2. ⁠Africa has diverse issues need to be addressed strategically and come up with one voice
3. Negotiators managed to foster for family issues, education, right to development and technical support. Other issues could not be agreed upon even within the member states. They were divided which made negotiators’ task difficult.
4. ⁠UN Women extended its support for the Africa candidacy to host CSW74 whereby in November, 2026 a preparatory meeting will be held.
5. ⁠African Women Convention on Ending Violence Against Women received few signatories. Member states are finalizing internal procedures to ratify it.
It was resolved that:
1. In order to strengthen common position, CSW Bureau should include negotiators and members from Africa at all stages, nationally and internationally.
2. ⁠Africa should hold firm on what have been achieved from Beijing Platform and it should be used as a reference point.
3. ⁠Members States should swiftly ratify the Convention
4. ⁠Strong Alliance and Strategic communications backed up with data should be used to monitor progress made so far.
5. A request for Ministers to attend national IDW will be taken up by the Bureau for action.
6. ⁠Information should be availed to members as to what entails in hosting CSW74.
7. ⁠CSW should continue to use technology in hosting its meetings to allow wider participation.
